Coirm Cheoil na Nollag takes place on Dé Máirt 21ú/Tuesday 21st next. We are please to inform you that Christmas Concert 2010 takes place in the school hall next Tuesday. Even though our ‘staff room’ is now located on the stage, a concert involving Naíonain Bheaga, Naíonain Mhóra agus Rang 1 is going ahead, main dramas are supplemented by interval acts from Rang VI, Rang IV, agus Rang II. This is only possible with the co-operation of all the staff, as practice and preparation is underway in the classroom and hall floor, which is not ideal but is feasible due to the willingness and enthusiasm of all concerned. Míle buíochas.

School photographs will be taken starting tomorrow Tuesday/Mairt 9ú and Wednesday/ Dé Ceadaoin 10ú. Billy Whyte Photography last visited the school in 2007 so now is an opportune time to update class and individual photographs. In general brothers and sisters are photographed together. If you wish your child to be photographed on their own you must notify your child’s class teacher specifically by note/class diary.
Photographs of pupils/classes will be available for purchase at a later date (approx two weeks time) and you will have the option of purchasing them or otherwise. We are all conscious of the present economic climate and as mentioned previously you will have the opportunity to avail of different photographic packages which will be totally optional.
Corn Mac Guidhir: Following Corks great win the All Ireland Final in September the ‘Sam Maguire Cup’ visits the school on Friday next. Youghal Camogie Club bring two cups to the school also after a fantastic year having won a county final and a league cup as well. Comhgháirdeas leo araon. Pupils may wear their Cork colours on Friday next to enhance the occasion.

A Thuiste: After a week back at school, routine is now in full swing as everyone settles in to a new school year.
Cruinniú Fóirne: An inservice course is being held for the school staff on Wednesday 15th next. Children will be allowed home at 12.30pm to facilitate same. Thanking you for your co-operation.
Cód Iompair: A revised new Code of Conduct has been formulated over the last school year. All the different bodies within the school were invited to make submissions prior to drafting. A copy will be issued to parents during the coming weeks. We wish to emphasize that the vast majority of pupils are co-operative and very well mannered, which we intend to highlight and acknowledge during the course of the school year. Thanking all parents who play such an important role inculcating a positive attitude toward school. Your role is vital in this regard. The new Code of Conduct also outlines steps for those who flagrantly or consistently are disruptive at school and what steps will be involved in counteracting/dealing with undesirable conduct. “Mol an Óige” (praise the youth) is the school motto and if applied fairly at home and at school will go a long way.
Eadaí Scoile: Kindly ensure that your child is wearing the proper school uniform, which is available locally in Neville’s Drapery and Flavins’ Sports. Black shoes only. Runner and sneaker type footwear should only be worn on P.E. days.
Bainne: School milk is subsidized and costs a fraction of alternative drinks. Milk this term (until Christmas) costs only €13. That amounts to less than twenty cent a day. Kindly hand in the correct amount in an envelope (bearing your child’s name and address) to your child’s class teacher.
Bí Sábhálta: To maximise road safety, kindly hold your child’s hand when exiting the school. Children should be encouraged to watch out for traffic and to use the services of our excellent road warden also. Avoid letting your child free to run/play games as they exit the school. They need guidance and supervision, moreover when exiting the school. Thanking you for your co-operation.
Trácht: While parking is problematic, do not park at the entrance to the apartments nearby as residents need to exit and entre their homes. Again thanking you for your co-operation.
Gaelscoil: We all need to use our `cúpla focal`at school and at home. Thanking all those who use basic Gaeilge, at home and at school to reinforce the school day.
Let’s make our school a gaelscoil. We all need to make an extra effort to create a gaelscoil atmosphere. ‘Ni neart go cur le chéile’

C.L.G.: Rang 1 agus Rang 11 participated in a very successful football blitz on Friday last. All pupils returned with a medal to ensure and encourage them to join their local club and to get involved in physical activity during the summer months.
Interactive Whiteboards: In conjunction with the Parents Council/B.O.M it is envisaged that all mainstream classrooms will be equipped with an interactive whiteboard, on your child’s return to school in September. This is a major undertaking for all concerned with an investment of €30,000 involved. It is hoped that this will be paid for over a number of years, as it a long term investment in your child’s education.
Leabhair: You will have received your child’s booklist for 2010-2011 by now. A school bookshop takes place in the school hall on Tuesday 20th July from 12.00noon to 4.00pm to facilitate parents. This is in conjunction with Walsh’s Bookshop in Dungarvan. Alternatively you may with to buy them in their shop in Dungarvan, or in Liam Russell’s, Oliver Plunkett St., Cork.
Book Scheme: Pupils from third to sixth are facilitated re a book rental scheme. Book lists which if bought new cost in the region of €150, while the book rental scheme is available for €40 which includes the school diary. In order to stagger school costs this can be paid during the coming week, if you so wish, or in September. Kindly keep your receipt in a safe place to avoid any confusion
An Fáinne Airgid: Rang VI were presented with An Fáinne Airgid insane hall recently. It marked their departure and the ceremony incorporated, ceol, rince, amhrán aíocht agus caint.
Culaith Scoile: Full grey uniform, light grey skirt or pinafore, light grey pants (Hunter Brand only), which is available in Neville’s Drapery and Flavins Sports. Other brands are not acceptable as they vary in colour/quality. We wish the school uniform to be just that ‘uniform’.
· Black shoes only. Velcro fasteners instead of laces are advisable for junior infants.
· School tracksuit should be worn on P.E. days. This is also available in Neville’s or Flavins. School T-shirt incorporating the school crest is part of your child’s P.E. attire and is also required.
· Ensure that your child’s clothing is clearly marked/labelled. School jumpers/tracksuit tops can get lost or mixed up very easily. This can be avoided by clear labelling of your child’s uniform and tracksuit.
