Samhradh samhradh………… bainne na ngamhna…thugamar féin an samhradh linn are the lyrics of amhrán gaelach as summer weather arrives at last.  School activities were many and varied looking back over the school year.

Cursaí Spóirt: Ghlac na páistí páirt i lúchchleasaíocht i gConna.  A large contingent of páistí were brought to Conna for a great day of athletic activities and medal winners.  Buíochas le Ailbhe agus Áine ar an lá.  Cumann Lúth Chleas Gael is an integral component of school life, where children are coached in the skills if our national games péil agus iomáint. School teams participated in Mini -7’s in both hurling and football codes.  The highlight and culmination of everybodys’ effort was reaching the Sciath na Scol Final, Roinn H4. We came off second best but a memorable milestone for the young players involved.  Buíochas ar leith d’ Eoin, Alf agus John Parker, for their dedication and hard work.

Cursaí Ceoil: After school guitar lessons proved to be very popular with páistí under the tutelage of Jean agus Caoimhín. Búiochas.
Vox Merus (members of RTE Light Orchestra) presented a brass workshop. A further workshop involving percussion instruments was a resounding success.  Buíochas don Comordaí Ceoil, Jean.

Cuairteoirí: Special visitors to the school were accorded a Céad Míle Fáilte, Special Olympics medal winner Orla Barry, Cork Ladies All-Ireland Winning Team and the Mayor of County Cork, our own Barbara Murray.  Song, dance and words of praise made for a memorable assemblies in the school hall.

Comhneartú agus An Chéad Chomaoine were two major highlights in the spiritual journey of pupils who received the sacraments.  Hard practice made for perfection and we congratulate the pupils, their parents agus a múinteoirí Caitríona, Póilín agus Eoin. Comhghairdeas.

Ealáion: Gaelscoil Choráin won a plethora of prizes in our Youghal Credit Union Poster Competition, spreagaithe ag na múinteoirí eagsúla  agus an Comhordorí  Ealáin. Cait   Literary prizes were achieved by pupils in various classes.

Coirm Cheoil na Nollag was an outstanding success. Mór bhuíochas ard mhalodh tuillte ag an bhfoireann teagaise.

Comhairle na dTuistí: Thanking all members of the Parents’ Council who gave voluntarily of their time and energy during the year, helping in various ways – from policy matters to an ‘cupán tae’.

Obair Ranga: Above are only some of the highlights of the school year.  The most important formation of your child’s education takes place in the classroom, under the direction of your child’s class teacher.  Projects, essays, poems, mathematical concepts with lots of oral work in all subject areas.  Gaelscoil Choráin’s Sten –Scores were higher than the national average!! (See trend graph on display on rear notice board).

An Teanga: Tá an fhoireann teagaise fíor – bhrodúil as caighdéan cainte na bpáistí.  Oral Irish is a core element of any gaelscoil.  Our pupils are bilingual from an early stage and by the time they leave the junior classes can hold a fully fledged conversation as Gaeilge.  Enriched and polished in middle and senior classes to an honours oral standard.  Encourage its use during holidays, T.G. 4, Radio na Gaeltachta, with friends, family and summer courses.

Bronnadh na Fáinní

Slán le Rang 6 a chaith blianta fada deasa linn. Bhí lá iontach againn ag bronnadh na fáinní óir orthu mar tá Gaeilge líofa acu ag fágaint na scoile. Bhí rinnce, ceol agus taispeántas ealaíona acu. Maith sibh go léir agus go neirí libh amach anseo.

Mí adh leis na buachaillí inniu ach beidh siad ar ais arís. Bhí sé go hiontach dul chomh fada leis an gcraobh. Maith sibh!

Tháinig Árd Mhéara Chontae Chorcaí ar cuairt chugainn inné. Bhí sí an-dheas. Labhair sí leis na páistí ar feadh tamall fada. Bhí gach éinne sásta nuair a fuair siad obair bhaile saor.
