Thainig Matt Cranitch agus Eoin Ó Riabhaigh ar cuairt chugainn inniu. Sheinn siad sa halla dúinn agus bhíodar ar fheabhas. Dhein siad cur síos ar na huirlisí ceoil a bhí acu agus bhí ríleanna, poirt, polkas agus alán eile le clos mórthimpeall na scoile. Ar fheabhas!

Cyber Bullying: Cyber Bullying has come to the fore in society on a national and global level. Children now have access to material, both suitable and totally unsuitable in this modern technological age.
As part of our Social, Personal and Health Education curriculum a Social Media Awareness and Cyber Bullying talk will be delivered to students on Wednesday, December 11th, by a trained professional from ‘Monere Development Services’. On the same night a talk on this subject will be delivered to parents from 7.45pm – 9.00pm in the school hall. Please pencil this date into your diary. The talk addresses the meaning and impact of Cyber Bullying, controlling technology at home and a practical demonstration on changing privacy settings on social media.
This workshop/talk to Rang 111, Rang IV, Rang V agus Rang VI will be during school hours. Staff will attend an in-service course that same evening after school hours from 3-5pm
Crannchur na Nollag: An active Parents’ Council is in place with Dara Ní Dhomhnaill Ó Murchú as Chairperson. One of its stalwart fundraising activities is its Christmas Raffle. These will be on sale during the coming weeks. Each family in the school are asked to sell/buy two books. Kindly do your utmost to support same. Buíochas.
Coirm Cheoil na Nollag: We are delighted to announce that in keeping with tradition, the school will hold its Christmas Concert on Thursday 19th December. This will afford your child the opportunity to take to the stage and be involved in song or dance, acting, rince, ceol, narrating or a combination of all. More details later.

Ceardlann
We are delighted to welcome to Gaelscoil Choráin the traditional
musicians Matt Cranitch and Eoin Ó Riobhaigh on Thursday next 28th
November.
In this workshop Matt Cranitch and Eoin Ó Riobhaigh will introduce the
fiddle and uilleann pipes, explain how they work and demonstrate how they are
played. In addition, the various
different kinds of tunes and rhythms featured in Irish traditional music, such
as jigs, reels, slides, polkas, hornpipes and slow airs will be outlined. To conclude the workshop, they will play a
few sets of tunes together, in effect making the occasion both a class and a
concert.
Matt
Cranitch has performed extensively at home in Ireland and abroad, and has
presented many lectures, master-classes and workshops. An authority on the fiddle –music of Sliabh
Luachra, he teaches courses in traditional music in UCC. He is a consultant for traditional music
programmes on TG4, and has been a recipient of the ‘University College Cork
Hall of Fame Award’.
Eoin Ó
Riabhaigh comes from a famous piping family and his father was the late Míchéal Ó
Riabhaigh, who was very well know as a piper and teacher of the
instrument. Eoin is holder of several
All-Ireland piping titles, and has performed widely in U.S. and Europe . He has presented master-classes in various
countries and is also highly regarded as a maker of uilleann pipes.
