Comhgháirdeas foireann camógaíochta Chorcaí on winning O’ Duffy Cup in last Sunday’s All-Ireland Camogie Final.   A fantastic fightback in the second half saw Cork ladies beat a much vaunted Kilkenny team.
At school level both boys and girls are actively involved in Sciath na Scol league matches.  This involves travel, time and training with lots of energy expended by all concerned, pupils, coaches and parents. Comhgháirdeas le foireann na gcailiní, who recorded their first major win last week against Ovens. 1-9 to 0-5.

Trials for long distance races were held recently and we intend bringing a large contingent of runners to East Cork Sports in Conna on Aoine 26th September.

Comhgháirdeas freisin to pupils from Rang V agus Rang VI who participated in the Harvest Quiz and their respective mentors and múinteoirí, Julie, Caitríona agus Cáit.  The two teams entered achieved 3rd and 6th place respectively from a total of forty five teams. Sár-obair.

Tracht: We are all well aware that essential road works pipe-laying is in progress throughout the town.  It is envisaged that works along Stand Street will commence @ October 13th.  A traffic flow system and walkway will be in place to safeguard all concerned.  More details at a later juncture.

National Database: The Central Statistics Office in conjunction with Department of Education is in the process of compiling an electronic individualized database of primary school pupils called the Primary Online Database.
This will enhance smooth transition of essential details from primary to secondary school, show demographic trends for future school building programmes, enhance census details etc. (More details at a later juncture). In the meantime you are asked to hand in a copy of your child’s birth certificate during the coming weeks to your child’s class teacher. Kindly retain the original at home.

Thanking all parents who have budgeted accordingly for their child’s needs in the area of art and crafts, photocopying and cultural activities.  This amounts to seventy euro.  As already communicated these are for your child’s benefit, to purchase art materials, essential photocopying and enhance their school life in the area of drama, music, field trips and Irish dancing.  Kindly hand in to your class teacher as it is now needed to maintain activities such as the above.  Go raibh maith agat.  If you are experiencing major financial hardship kindly liaise with your class teacher, in confidence.  Thanking you for supporting your child and gaelscoil

Go raibh maith agat.

Comhairle na dTuistí/The Parents Council invites you

The Annual General Meeting of the Parents Council is due shortly and we invite all parents to attend.

The Parents Council work together with management and teachers to ensure that our children’s school days are the best they can be with a mix of academia and fun filled activities, to make school a memorable experience.  Over recent years we have contributed towards various theatre outings to Cork, visiting workshops and sporting events to name but a few.

The Parents Council is also active in the area of policy matters and liaises with An Bord Bainistíochta accordingly.  Two members of the Parents Council also serve as parents’ representatives on the BOM (An Bord Bainistíochta)

We will be forming a new committee at the AGM on Tuesday, September 30th 2014, at 8.00pm.

Looking forward to seeing you there….

Go raibh maith agat.

Naíonáin Bheaga 2014

Fáilte roimh na páistí nua a tháinig chugainn i mbliana. Tá súil againn go mbeidh scoilíocht shona le tairbhe acu.

Monday, September 1, 2014

Fáilte mór ar ais chuig scoilbhliain nua 2014-15.  A big welcome to the whole school community, pupils, parents and school staff.  Fáilte speisialta to the naíonáin bheaga and all new pupils, parents and muinteoirí.  The first day at school was a special day and the new naíonáin bheaga (junior infants) have already settled in with considerable aplomb, with their múinteoirí Úna agus Áine.

Naí Bheaga/Junior Infants will be allowed home at 12.00noon up to and including Thursday next 4th Sept, to ease their early days at school.  Full timetable will be in place thereafter.

Abhaile/Home time for Infants:  The children will be brought to the rear exit area by their respective múinteoirí/S.N.A.  They will be handed over to their parents/child minders individually for safety purposes.
For organizational and safety reasons avoid collecting your child, from the classroom door, at hometime as it is impractictal and leads to disruption of valuable educational time.  Thanking you for your co-operation.
Ranganna ag tosnú 8.55am  - Classes begin.
Naíonáin abhaile 1.40pm – Junior and Senior Infant home time.
Ranganna eile abhaile 2.40pm – Home time for all other classes.

Eadaí Scoile:  Kindly ensure that your child is wearing the proper school uniform, which is available locally in Neville’s Drapery and Flavins’ Sports.  Black shoes only.  Runner and sneaker type footwear should only be worn on P.E. days. Ensure that your child’s clothes are labelled, with his/her name.

Bí Sábhálta:  To maximise road safety, kindly hold your child’s hand when exiting the school.  Children should be encouraged to watch out for traffic and to use the services of our excellent road warden also.  Avoid letting your child free to run/play games as they exit the school.  They need guidance and supervision, moreover when exiting the school.  Thanking you for your co-operation.

Trácht: While parking is problematic, do not park at the entrance to the apartments nearby as residents need to exit and enter their homes.  Again thanking you for your co-operation.

Gaelscoil:  We all need to use our `cúpla focal`at school and at home.  Thanking all those who use basic Gaeilge, at home and at school to reinforce the school day.

Let’s make our school a gaelscoil.  We all need to make an extra effort to create a gaelscoil atmosphere.  Slán go fóill.
