Christmas Concert/Coirm Cheoil na Nollag
It is envisaged that children will take to the stage for our annual Christmas Concert on Wednesday 17th Nollaig from 10.00am to @1.00pm. (Details of timetable will be issued closer to the date). This undertaking involves a lot scripting, rehearsal and frantic activity leading up to it. Enthusiasm and energy definitely required on behalf of staff who are preparing the children. Management would like to recognize same and commend all involved for their endeavours. Naturally the páistí love the excitement and atmosphere that it brings. Mo bhuíochas gach einne don cine, duthracht agus fuinneamh ag ullmhú na páistí don stáitse.
Na Sacraimintí: Classes and staff members involved in Confirmation and An Chéad Chomaoine are involved in their own ‘drama’ in preparation of these Sacraments with commitment/enrolment cermonies/Mass. Nevertheless they will play supporting roles in our Christmas Concert.
Seacht sheachtainí ó Samhain go Nollaig……. seven weeks between Halloween and
Christmas!! Weeks fly by as the
Christmas period approaches.
A lot of
fruitful positive activities took place and are ongoing throughout the school
on a weekly basis.
Sciath na Scol: An
immence amount of energy, enthusiasm and effort was to the fore in preparing
our teams, buachaillí agus cailiní for Sciath na Scol Competitions. It involved a lot of travel and time to
various venues throughout East Cork and
beyond. We were thrilled that na cailiní
reached the final of Roinn DGFI which was played in Páirc Uí Chaoimh
recently. The team played heroically in
atrocious conditions narrowly losing out to Gleanntán in the final stages. It was great bonding exercise for the school
community. Buíochas arís d’Áiblhe, Alf,
Barra agus Eoin for their commitment and involvement. Buíochas to all parents
who travelled and assisted the team.
Special buíochas to Marie Hannon.
Comhghairdeas
to Eochaill fé 12 cailiní who won East
Cork Football League. It bodes well for
our local club.
Comhghairgeas
freisin to Rian Zaid, Rang VI who has been selected to play for Cork County
Soccer fé 13. A major achievement. Maith
an buachaill.
Ceol: Another
Musical Quartet entertained the junior classes introducing them to the sounds
of violin, trumpet agus trombone.
Rang V agus
Rang VI had the opportunity to sample the delights of Cork Pops Orchestra. Very enjoyable and educational. Buíochas leat, Jean for co-ordinating
same.
Guitar
lessons for Rang IV, V agus VI are underway under the tutelage of Jean agus
Caoimhín. Proving to be very popular and
classes are now full. Buíochas libh araon.
Ríomahairí : A major investment in technology @ €14,000 is
now bearing fruit with Rang 111 to Rang VI having access to modern up to date
computer/tablets. This involves a lot of
research/time/configuration in organizing same on behalf of our I.T co-ordinatior Caoimhín. (Ár mbuíochas
leat). Naturally our pupils are very
keen and excited in using same. Thanking
Parents’ Council / An Bord Bainistíochta for funding the project in total.
Gaeilge 24 was a tremendous success with Rang VI,
involving conversational Irish for 24 hours at school and at home. Co-ordinated
by their múinteoir Caitríona they gave all of us a taste of Gaeilge involving
modern songs, tunes, debates and entertainment as Gaeilge in the school hall
and throughout. Teanga ársa á chur chun
cinn i stíl nua-aimseartha. Go diail ar
fad. Go raibh maith agaibh
tuistí/parents who use le Gaeilge with their children and school staff.
Coisir na Samhna:
Naionáin Bheaga agus Naíonáin Mhóra had lots of ghoulish fun and
laughter at Coisir na Samhna. Thanking
their múinteoirí Úna, Áine, Hanóra agus Póilín for entering into the ‘spirit’
of Halloween. Míle buíochas. A falulous ‘Císte na Samhna’ created and
baked by Marie O’ Connor raised €457. A scrumptious
work of art!.

Gaeilge 24 – Labharaigí Gaeilge le Chéile!
Ghlac pobal Gaelscoil Choráin páirt i ‘nGaeilge 24’ inniu
agus rinne gach éinne sár iarracht go deo chun labhairt ‘as gaeilge’. Bhí
díospóireacht ar siúl ag Rang 6 i halla na scoile agus an rún a bhí á phlé acu
ná ‘Ba Cheart ár dTeanga a Choimeád Beo’. Chanadar ‘Tóg Amach Mé’ agus ‘Lig Mé
Saor ón Suan atá Orm’ agus bhain gach éinne sult as a gcuid amhránaíochta!
Bronnadh cáca álainn ar an bhfoireann teagaisc agus tacaíochta, as ucht a
bheith de shíor ag spreagadh agus ag gríosadh na daltaí chun a dteanga
náisiúnta a úsáid. Molaimíd sibh! Léigh Rang 6 scéalta dos na bunranganna agus
thugadar ticéidí crannchur d’éinne a bhí ag déanamh sár iarracht chun labhairt
‘as gaeilge’. Bhí crannchur agus cóisir ag deireadh an lae. Lá álainn gaelach a
bhí ag gach éinne. ‘Mol an Óige agus Tiocfaidh sí’.
Foireann Peile Gaelscoil Choráin - Craobh Sciath na Scol 2014
Táimid an-bhrodúil as ár gcailiní a shrois Craobh Roinn a hAon Sciath na Scol. Dhein siad éacht an craobh a shroisint ach faraor bhí mí-ádh leo ar an lá. D’imríodh an craobh inné. Bhíodar cróga agus díograiseach agus go maire sin.

Turas chuig ‘Cork Pops’ i Halla na Cathrach!!
Bhain Rang 5&6 an taitneamh go deo as maidin iontach ceolmhar i Halla na Cathrach inné. Chuir an cheolfhoireann ‘Cork Pops’ fáilte mór rompu agus sheinneadar roinnt dréachtanna de cheol clasaiceach ó na scannáin. Bhí an deis ag na daltaí glacadh páirt sa cheolchoirm agus chanadar, ‘Titanic’, ‘Edelweiss’, ‘Happy’ agus ‘Smile’ ón scanán Modern Times ag Charlie Chaplin.
Bhí gliondar chroí ag na daltaí ar fad nuair a tháinig Keith Ó hÁinle, buaiteoir Guth na h-Éireann 2013 ar an stáitse. Chan sé ‘Let it Go’ ón scannán Frozen. Fuaireadar grianghraf leis i ndiaidh an seó!!
