Seacht  sheachtainí ó Samhain go Nollaig……. seven weeks between Halloween and Christmas!!    Weeks fly by as the Christmas period approaches.

A lot of fruitful positive activities took place and are ongoing throughout the school on a weekly basis.

Sciath na Scol:  An immence amount of energy, enthusiasm and effort was to the fore in preparing our teams, buachaillí agus cailiní for Sciath na Scol Competitions.  It involved a lot of travel and time to various venues throughout East Cork and beyond.  We were thrilled that na cailiní reached the final of Roinn DGFI which was played in Páirc Uí Chaoimh recently.  The team played heroically in atrocious conditions narrowly losing out to Gleanntán in the final stages.  It was great bonding exercise for the school community.  Buíochas arís d’Áiblhe, Alf, Barra agus Eoin for their commitment and involvement. Buíochas to all parents who travelled and assisted the team.  Special buíochas to Marie Hannon.

Comhghairdeas to Eochaill fé 12 cailiní  who won East Cork Football League.  It bodes well for our local club.

Comhghairgeas freisin to Rian Zaid, Rang VI who has been selected to play for Cork County Soccer fé 13.  A major achievement. Maith an buachaill.

Ceol:  Another Musical Quartet entertained the junior classes introducing them to the sounds of violin, trumpet agus trombone.
Rang V agus Rang VI had the opportunity to sample the delights of Cork Pops Orchestra.  Very enjoyable and educational.  Buíochas leat, Jean for co-ordinating same.
Guitar lessons for Rang IV, V agus VI are underway under the tutelage of Jean agus Caoimhín.  Proving to be very popular and classes are now full.  Buíochas libh araon.

Ríomahairí : A major investment in technology @ €14,000 is now bearing fruit with Rang 111 to Rang VI having access to modern up to date computer/tablets.  This involves a lot of research/time/configuration in organizing same on behalf of  our I.T co-ordinatior Caoimhín. (Ár mbuíochas leat).  Naturally our pupils are very keen and excited in using same.  Thanking Parents’ Council / An Bord Bainistíochta for funding the project in total.

Gaeilge 24 was a tremendous success with Rang VI, involving conversational Irish for 24 hours at school and at home. Co-ordinated by their múinteoir Caitríona they gave all of us a taste of Gaeilge involving modern songs, tunes, debates and entertainment as Gaeilge in the school hall and throughout.  Teanga ársa á chur chun cinn i stíl nua-aimseartha.  Go diail ar fad.  Go raibh maith agaibh tuistí/parents who use le Gaeilge with their children and school staff.

Coisir na Samhna:  Naionáin Bheaga agus Naíonáin Mhóra had lots of ghoulish fun and laughter at Coisir na Samhna.  Thanking their múinteoirí Úna, Áine, Hanóra agus Póilín for entering into the ‘spirit’ of Halloween.  Míle buíochas.  A falulous ‘Císte na Samhna’ created and baked by Marie O’ Connor raised €457.  A scrumptious work of art!.
